The Well of the Wolves - A Musical Graphic Novel Project
The Well of the Wolves is a graphic novel project written by David Finch & Kid Hyena (Matt Kemp & Maria Moreno) with art by Oriol Tuca.
The completed story will also be accompanied by an album with songs related to the book by Kid Hyena. The album will be available to download if the reader cracks the rebel code within the book.
It is the story of Finn and a group of peasants that live in a dystopian future under the rule of the tyrannical Company. Work, religion and Chess are their sole occupations; everything else is a punishable crime. Discovering an ancient set of studio masters from a band will inspire a rebellion against the Company by means of artistic emancipation. An epic adventure guided by their will and unseen forces will teach Finn and the other peasants the truth about their deepest ancestry and take them to worlds they never imagined existed. They learn humanity’s destiny is in danger once again. Only art and music can save it.
A Little Taster from the opening page!
A CRACK BETWEEN WORLDS
The moon hangs
Sentient, umbilical, lucid
Tethered out in the abyss
Asleep under diamond shaped stars
The howl of wolves ignites the darkness like outlaws of broken dreams
Unchallenged they ring the bells of the night
A family eternal, running on the fuel of the moons white blood
Like a great celestial disobedeance to the fantasies of corrupt men
A moving manifesto of rebellion on the edge of survival they push against the antlers of man
This pathfinder traverses realms between the oppressed and the resurgent
Clawing back the broken sky with desert sized lungs
Tearing at the innards of justice
Prowling over black tears with primal eternal will
The wolf is forever mobilized without democratic flaw
A guardian of conciousness, vision and liberty
Breathing in a myriad of moments woven from the truths of the stars
With great untamed desire they shape their world, yours and mine
What the night delivers, pounds deep in their hearts
Like burning fires of resistance in the eternal thrum of the seasons
Aware to the mystery unfolding in the lavender of the mind
They know winters river will carry all away and only the well will remain
The well sits omnipresent
Like a great flame of suns
What we were and always will be
A memory of things to come
A distant murmur of galaxies and the shedding of cosmic dust
A bow of history, endless, nameless, foreboding, true
An ancient place that knows no maker
Where the tides of the moon brought the earth to shape
A devourer of shadow and an incandescent showpiece of dreams laden with stories and song
A serpent emergent,quenching instinctual & intuitive thirst
The wolves stand before it - proud and loyal
It's water replenishes their starlit minds
A hummingbird’s joy fills the nature of their being
Rich in the understanding that justice is a rose that stems beyond the halls of man
Hunting in a crack between worlds, this fire dog of the ages leaps in the lament of the rain, churning in the will of the well
With a ferocity forever undiminished, carnal slaves to the bulbos desires that burn through the heart
hear them tread rabid and thunderous underfoot in the wishing tree of lanterns
& with a thousand eyes they will hunt until the oak leaves fall crisply and the autumn calls in the days of sun
With tribal veins each vehicular beauty stalks a scent in the harbouring mist
Piercing and probing the fragments of orions sky for signs of prey or weakness
Listen....You can hear them
They are means to yourself & they never left you behind
